OH MY GOSH IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS.
Okay, I’m done.
In a far more…Kate-like move…I spent yesterday afternoon making coal candy to take my trainer and for a gift exchange gift.
No, I don’t have an adorable picture of the finished product to post for you (yet) but it looks a little like this:
Only not as cute or well-lit. So, you know. It’s still pretty rad though – actually sparkles like coal and leaves your fingers all black. Since that’s a desirable quality in food. When you eat it you look like you’ve been licking ink – it has that purple black color to it. But it’s tasty.
Today I’m blissfully not at work and got to sleep in a little so this post is going up later than usual (will you notice? no). But even though I woke up late I still found this when I got up:
Blast that child for making me feel like an underachiever. Never mind that I’m off to the gym for a training session later. Just never mind.
Because we’re having a tropical Christmas here I’m having iced coffee with my breakfast (tropical meaning it’s 60 out):
That will not be my last cup of coffee today. Mark my words.
Normally today I would inundate you with a collection of links to awesome things but I’ve slacked on my research this week. I have a few offerings for you though!
If you’d like to find out if you’re on the naughty or nice lists, you can check with Santa here. He’ll give you a personalized message and everything.
Ali’s post about it being okay to indulge during the holidays pretty much explains my theory on life. Particularly when she says, “Because Christmas cookies are delicious, and I only really eat 20 of them in a sitting on one occasion every year.” What I loved more though were the pictures of Columbus Circle and Time Warner Center because that was one of my favorite places in the city. That was “my” Whole Foods when I lived up there.
My internet BFF Sarah is hosting a giveaway for some really delicious treats. You should go to her blog and enter. By which I mean read this and forget because I want to win. Honestly.
Finally, Jenna has decided to do one of her “Day in the Life” posts for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This basically means you take pictures of everything from the time you wake up to the time you go to bed. I’m going to do my best to do that too (because every time I try to do DITL I forget halfway through). Jenna is hoping that others will join her and she makes a good point – Christmas tends to be a little different each year, especially once you’re in the stage of life where you’re growing your family (or your immediate family is growing their families), so why not capture this year to remember? I’m really excited to do it so I hope I’ll manage to get it done!
So here’s my actual house with the lights. You can’t see the colored tree in this picture, but I have a shot of it.
Remind me to tell you the story of how none of our lights worked for two days because our ground fault interrupter was tripped and would not reset no matter what we did. (that’s the whole story). The situation is recovered now but things were touch and go here for a while.
My nails, however, look stunning:
Serious thanks to Erika for making everyone’s nails look amazing – I’ll have to get pictures of the rest of them tonight to show off. We played with my nail stamping kit last night and had a blast.
How are you spending these final hours before Christmas is upon us? Are you working today? Are you done shopping? I haven’t started wrapping – are you done wrapping? Or do you celebrate a holiday other than Christmas and you’re just looking forward to everyone acting like normal again?
