This is the big day where I finally announce my weight again. And I have pictures!
I don’t think I can possibly say anything else about the Whole30 program, but here are my earlier posts if you are curious:
The day I started Whole30: 255.5 pounds
30 days later:
Total Weight Lost on Whole30 = 15 pounds (!)
Total Weight Lost in 2012 = 22.5 pounds (!!!!)
The Progress Pictures:

(I wish you could see the definition in my arms better in the picture above – it’s much more apparent in real life!)

Next week I’ll be able to share the inches I lost and the change in my body fat percentage because I’m getting those measured on Friday.
What’s Next?
I absolutely insist I will not participate in any more ridiculous “lifestyle” plans. I’m going back to eating real food in realistic portion sizes. It was helpful to me to keep my dairy and sugar intake low and I know it’s best if I can minimize my grain intake as well but I will be handling that in a much more realistic and sustainable way from now on. And the food journal is going to make a comeback when I get home from my trip.
My energy bounced back within the first 48 hours of reintroducing grains. This means I’ll be going back to my swimming and because I’m being foolishly optimistic I’m considering running as well (I predict that will last a few days before I remember how much I hate it). And I’m still doing strength training with my personal trainer.
But in interest of full disclosure, I treated myself to a cheat meal last night with my friend Betsy so I could finally have that delicious slice of pizza I’d been dreaming about for the past 30 days!
It was everything I hoped and dreamed it would be and now I have quieted my pizza craving. I wasn’t craving the chocolate frozen yogurt but it was pretty delicious anyway!
Friday is the final weigh-in for the contest at my gym so keep your fingers crossed for me! I really want to win this one!
Your turn: What are you proud of this week? How are your goals coming along?

My name is Kate. I'm a makeup and coffee addict (and total Jesus freak) fighting to lose over 100 pounds. But there's more to life than losing weight. This is where I try to balance it all - and hilarity ensues.

Thanks, Emma! It sounds like you’re doing well too
Yay for getting rid of 15 lbs! (I don’t like saying ‘lose’ anymore, because I’m sure no one wants to find the weight again. ha!) and yay for Costco pizza and froyo!
PS: have you seen my goals? I can’t find them at them moment.
Agreed. I never want to see those pounds again!! And maybe you need a motivation booster. I am not good at figuring those out, but sometimes if I start browsing through blogs and reading peoples stories I get excited to work again. Or even just reading back through my own old blog posts and remembering how I felt when I first started or had a lot of success sometimes gets me going!
Dang, I really want pizza and ice cream now! Congrats on the weight loss! I’m glad you decided no more crazy diets, since the weight loss can be hard to maintain, but I am totally blown away by your amazing will power!

Discovering my willpower was my favorite lesson of Whole30. And I highly advocate for some pizza and ice cream, it makes for a lovely evening!
Awesome job, Kate!! You’re a rock star!
That picture of you with the pizza is so stinkin cute.

Costco food is totally underrated. I love their pizza. Congrats on completing this project!
I agree. I think Costco dinner may be the best value for money we have in Northern VA. I am never disappointed!
Wow, Kate! 15 lbs in a month is pretty amazing. You totally deserve that slice of Costco pizza. Congrats!

Thank you, Katie! I’m really happy with how well I did. And that slice of pizza was pretty amazing.
WOW! that is some INCREDIBLE progress!!!
Sorry to hear whole30 really didn’t work well for you on the energy/life side of things though =( it definitely took me at least 4 weeks to fully adjust!
Thanks, Sable! Even if it didn’t work out for me as a lifestyle option I did learn some good things from doing the program and I will say that after I got past the carb “detox” part I didn’t really miss a lot of the stuff I thought I would (like chocolate!). So that was a good lesson that I can do without some things I think I “need.” As difficult as it was, I think it was probably worth it!
YAY!!!!! congrats girl! i can really tell a difference – you are kicking BUTT!!!
