Today’s the day! Today’s the Day!

I’m sad to be leaving my boys for a week and I’ve given Mocha strict instructions not to grow up while I’m gone. But I’m so excited I can barely stand it.

By the time you’re reading this I’m probably (hopefully!) cruising along the VA highways jamming out to some awesome road trip tunes and not sitting in traffic but…there’s always a chance of that, right? It’s the day before a holiday so all bets are off.

I woke up this morning and discovered not one but TWO new mix CDs waiting for me in my mailbox so I know I’ve got my music covered. For future reference, anyone wishing to guarantee I’ll be in the best mood ever is free to repeat this awesome trick.

I love me a good road trip and having 7-ish hours with nothing to do but drive, sing, and spend time with my thoughts is pretty much a dream come true.

What I am also after, however, is some of this:

That, y’all, was my second Instagram of all time and it was taken on a long road trip as well. And if you’re not familiar with the awesomeness that is Cookout, let me explain. It’s just fast food and I probably wouldn’t think it was any good – honestly I’d probably be snotty about how trashy it was – except that I can only ever have it when I get to Richmond or North Carolina. I don’t know how far this chain extends, but since I can almost never have it I just love it. Their list of milkshake choices is as tall as me and they serve hush puppies and it’s super cheap. I try to make it a point to visit there at least once every time I’m in the vicinity of one.

Obviously more important than the junk food I eat will be getting to see my brother and very, very soon-to-be Sister-in-Law before the hordes of people arrive for all the wedding festivities. I’m also excited that so much of my extended family can make it out for the wedding because we almost never get to see each other.

Anyway, I have some lightweight posts coming up for you while I’m away. I do have an awesome guest post for you coming on Thursday from the fabulous Katie Price that you’ll want to come check out but otherwise all bets are off in terms of having stellar content. Then again, that just describes every other day, doesn’t it?

If you’re dying to keep up with my adventures while I’m gone I suggest that you follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and become a fan of Kate Sullivan Blogs on Facebook! Of course, I suggest you follow me on those sites anyway but in case you haven’t gotten around to it, today should be the day.

What are your plans for this holiday week/weekend? Do you love or hate roadtrips? What are some of your road trip “must-dos” ?

Okay, the Cookout I stopped at on my way here was seriously the nicest Cookout I have ever seen – It even had indoor seating! I’ve only ever seen the tiny ones that are really quite ghetto looking and you can only walk up to the outside or go through the drive thru so now I feel bad for calling it trashy. I just never knew there were different versions of it! But it was every bit as delicious as I remembered and everything I hoped and dreamed that it would be : ) I will definitely be stopping there again on the way back home!
