I set out on Tuesday morning with all the essentials ready:
Two new mix CDs keeping me company while I drove made the trip fast (ish) and easy. The weather was perfect and there wasn’t a lot of traffic!
I arrived in Charlotte by 2 and got to work immediately helping out with all the last minute wedding details. We channeled our inner gypsy selves and got to blinging.

Silver is not a wedding color so we just had to cover it with red, right?
We also ended up driving ALL over Charlotte to track down a complete set of these buttons:

I’m definitely not complaining though because it was a perfect opportunity to scope out the different neighborhoods and potential real estate! There are a ton of really cute little old homes that are being completely gutted and fixed up and/or have the potential to be really amazing once all the updates are done. I was mostly looking for my parents but it’s definitely a possibility that moving here is in my future since my brother and (one more day until she’s my) sister-in-law are settled here and my parents are strongly considering moving down here!
Once my parents arrived on Wednesday we had dinner at this awesome place:

Anywhere they serve Lobster Mac n’ Cheese immediately gets a spot on my good list. I was not disappointed by my entree here either.
We watched fireworks from the roof that night and had a panoramic view of the 20+ shows that we could see from the apartment building. They’re close enough to South Carolina so most of what we saw was probably just normal people shooting stuff in their backyards but all the little displays meant the horizon was just full of lights.
Thursday was heavily errand-centric. Tuxes were collected, last minute honeymoon items were shopped for,

And one groom’s cake was made:

That’s a chocolate cake with peanut butter cream cheese frosting (recipes here). I used gel food coloring to get those rich colors even though the frosting had a slightly tan tone from the peanut butter.
Wedding gifts have been arriving nonstop, but this card is my favorite:

It also explains why I’m not in love with Channing. He looks like my brother. There’s probably a funny story behind why Mike’s nickname is “Tits” and I’m guessing it’s because his last name includes those letters – but I don’t know the story, sadly. Sorry for that randomness!
Today we’re busy getting everything over to the Ritz Carlton for the rehearsal and wedding and then we’ll be greeting everyone as they get into town and getting our nails done.
Hope you all have an awesome weekend!

My name is Kate. I'm a makeup and coffee addict (and total Jesus freak) fighting to lose over 100 pounds. But there's more to life than losing weight. This is where I try to balance it all - and hilarity ensues.

There was some kind of frappe, lobster mac and cheese, and cake in this post. I’m suddenly starving. Have fun at the wedding!
