I think I speak for everyone who had to wake up this morning and go back to business as usual when I say “Why does Monday keep happening to me????”
I wish I could adequately capture the emotional experience that was this weekend so you all can understand why I feel the way I do about it. But I’m pretty sure any and all attempts for me to explain will basically make it sound like I’ve been drinking some funky kool-aid. I’m at peace with that. It should be enough to say that I had nothing to worry about and though I had some awesomely awkward moments (Hi Ashley, I’m sorry I probably won’t ever be able to talk to you like I’m a normal human being) there were some total moments of win as well – like how (after a pep talk from Patty and Tiffany) I walked right up to Mrs. Fatass and asked for a hug. Mostly because she was the one instructor all weekend who didn’t ask us to do burpees (kidding, it’s because she’s amazing).
There are so many things I want to share but I’m still recovering – both physically and mentally/emotionally from the weekend so this post may be less than coherent. I mean worse than it usually is! I’ll get to the insights and deep thoughts and good to know things later in the week!
Today I want to give a shoutout to my awesome roommate for the weekend, Tiffany:
I was very happy to collect her from the airport on Thursday morning so I didn’t have to walk in to Fitbloggin alone. We were split up for the McCormick Spice tour almost immediately (naturally!) but she pretty much let me tag along with her for the rest of the weekend and that was really helpful for any remaining anxiety past that first day.
There were so many things to do and see and people to meet and new things to try. I learned a lot – not just about blogging and fitness but about myself as well. I got to try Crossfit and Jumpsport (I survived Crossfit and bailed on Jumpsport – I’d have guessed it would go the other way). I heard the most inspiring stories and met some truly incredible people. One fail from the weekend? Not getting pictures with everyone!
It was almost impossible to make myself leave before things officially wrapped up but I dragged myself (and all that swag!) back to VA just in time for someone’s birthday celebration.
(don’t let that candle fool you – I swear he’s been 21 for years)
Yes, he had to light his own candle. And he did a lot of the cooking for everyone that night too. Hah. But I did get myself home in time to make that cake!
I spent Sunday trying to rest and organize myself for the week ahead. I did more resting than organizing and yet my body is still sore from all the workouts I did. Holy damn I never want to do another burpee for as long as I live.
And now it’s Monday which means I’m back to real life and pretending like I have my shit together.
Speaking of having shit together, I’m guest-hosting this month’s vlog link up. And I’m doing such a great job of that </sarcasm> that you have TWO WHOLE DAYS to get your video together if you want to join in. I know.
So throw some stuff in a bag, or grab your purse, or gym bag, or body bag, or delve deep inside and pull out some emotional baggage – we don’t particularly care. Just do it – because vlogging is fun (the awkward kind), watching vlogs is fun, indulging our inner voyeurs is fun, learning you’re not the only one who walks around with produce inside your purse is fun, and getting to see/hear the person behind a blog is fun. And covering my slacker ass is fun (eep!), right?
How was your weekend? What are you up to this week? Why does Monday keep happening to us??
