Okay, this is the part where I go: Hey guys, I’m doing a new month-long challenge!
Now you go:
I know, I am not super awesome with my follow-through when it comes to this kind of thing. I’ve dropped the ball on monthly challenges more times than I’ve ever successfully completed one. I think in my blogging life I’ve made it through 2 challenges (no idea how many I’ve signed up for).
I don’t plan to wax poetic about how this one will be different or any of that. Y’all are too smart for that. But the point is not to do 28 days worth of work, it’s to spend 28 days doing work (I know, SO different). But seriously – if I make a list of 28 things to do, I just want to check all of them off within the month of February. The point is to take the month and work on my blog. To finally DO all those things I’ve been thinking I might possibly do someday with this blog or would be really cool to do but I just never get around to actually, you know, doing them.
So I’m joining the 28 Day Blog Challenge. There are close to 300 of us signed up so you’ll probably see this on other blogs you read too – and you can still join in if you’re like me and have a bloggy to-do list and want to spend some time working on it. I like that this is kind of a background challenge – meaning I can make my changes as I see fit and I won’t be blogging each and every little thing I do. So you can enjoy a relatively uninterrupted reading experience while I’m over here checking off my list.
Exactly what will I be doing for the next 28 days? Housekeeping, mostly. Katy Widrick (challenge creator) posted some ideas to get you started. She has some good suggestions and I’ll be making my own little list too. For example, I know a lot of my old posts are missing their pictures entirely. I’ve been meaning to go back and clean those up for a long time.
My non-blogging readers will probably be yawning about now and wondering why they should care. Don’t think all my changes will be background ones! I promise you’ll spot some new features before the month is out.
If you are a blogger, I would recommend checking out Katy’s list and seeing if there’s anything you can work on. It doesn’t mean you have to commit to the full 28 day challenge or even do those things right now. Just file them away for one of those rainy days when you’re wondering what to do with your life!
Are you joining the 28 Day Challenge? Are you good at monthly challenges or are you more like me (oh hey, something shiny!)? Anything on your blogging to-do list?

My name is Kate. I'm a makeup and coffee addict (and total Jesus freak) fighting to lose over 100 pounds. But there's more to life than losing weight. This is where I try to balance it all - and hilarity ensues.

I’m terrible at challenges. It’s all about something shiny that dies down towards the end. But it’s okay. If it adds even a little spice to my life, I’ll say it added value

I’m doing it too! Even though I am totally bad at follow through… but this is a new year, right?
Most of my stuff is going to be background too (fixing links, photos, SEO) and I have two blogs I’m trying to spruce up, so I think I’ll actually have a productive month! Good luck!

I like that it’s not necessarily 28 tasks, but 28 days of work. Meaning “I thought about it” counts : ) Haha. But I do think it’s nice to set aside time instead of thinking “someday” or “I should…”
