A few weeks ago I mentioned that I don’t really have a plan as far as what to do for my weight loss. I basically decided I was going to try different things until I figure out what works for me.
Unfortunately I’m too type A for all that. So I think I need to plan a little bit more specifically.
So here’s a question: if I come up with a plan and don’t blog it, will it still work?

I want to be accountable, and I think it really was helpful to be reporting in here every week. But how many times can I blog the same things before they get tired and boring? That was pretty much why I stopped in the first place – I ran out of new ways to say “I ate the same thing this week as I did last week” and I am just not at a point where I’m feeling creative enough to regurgitate the same content in new and exciting ways. I wish.
I guess we’ll see.
At any rate, my first step is going to be a pretty simple one. I thought about giving something up for Lent. Last year I tried sugar and failed. I almost tried it again this year but decided maybe I should go for something a little smaller but still important: No More Drive-Thrus.
I know. You’re all, “Kate, you’ve seriously been eating drive-thru food this whole time?” It’s probably really similar to what most of you will say when I tell you that I joined my gym specifically because I wouldn’t have to walk up a flight of stairs to get into the gym:
And I’m all, “Well, just Starbucks really.” And yes, I hate taking the stairs to the gym. No, it does not count as a warm up. But seriously, yes, I’m in the Starbucks drive thru every other day.
Because I don’t do mornings. I don’t care if morning starts at noon, I’m not good at waking up. Which means I’m not good at making myself breakfast. And because I’m usually in a hurry to get out the door because I’ve hit snooze for an hour already I tell myself it’s faster to get breakfast from the drive thru. Which is just a lie, because I sit in line at the drive thru spending the time I should have been using to make my own breakfast liking all your pictures on Instagram and finding hilarious gifs on WeHeartIt or playing 4pics 1 word. Such a liar.
But it’s a good step because I’m not saying no Starbucks, just saying that if I really want it I have to get out of the car and walk inside and stand there with the other grouchy not-morning people and wait for it. Which pretty much guarantees that I’ll be making my own breakfast from now on because…lazy.
So that’s Step One. I haven’t figured out Step Two yet but it will happen.
Are you giving anything up for Lent? What shortcuts do you take on a regular basis?

My name is Kate. I'm a makeup and coffee addict (and total Jesus freak) fighting to lose over 100 pounds. But there's more to life than losing weight. This is where I try to balance it all - and hilarity ensues.

I feel your pain about the laziness of not wanting to get out of the car @ Starbucks! None of the Starbucks near my house or work have a drive-thru. It’s painful to get out of the car & wait in the superlong line at 8ish in the morning. Lately I’ve been brewing SB’s Blonde Roast & using fancy creamer at home.. allowing myself almost 20 extra minutes in bed and saving a ton of money.
