I don’t know about you but I love seeing inside other people’s homes. Not even gonna lie, if your curtains are open and the lights are on when I walk past I’m checking things out – not to see you or if there’s anything I want, just to see your furniture. Or your cabinets. Last year I had a lot of angst over my neighbors who got the gorgeous dark cabinets when my kitchen had light ones.
So for all the people who share that trait and of course my far-flung family members and friends, here’s a look at my new place. I keep saying apartment because I rent, but it’s a condo. Not sure anyone cares but there you go. And now on to the pictures and video!
The kitchen isn’t the fanciest kitchen I’ve ever had but it’s pretty damn nice. It helps that the wall color just so happens to match my stuff. I mention this in the video but it was like this when I moved, I didn’t paint it.
I really love the wine glass rack, but I will say it’s a little too easy for the wine glasses to go slipping off here. I need to get something a little nicer than the cardboard wedges but it works in the meantime.
I love having this table in my entry as a place to drop my bag and keys when I come in the house. You can see in this picture that it matches my kitchen walls perfectly.
My living area isn’t actually arranged like this anymore. I love how cozy it was and how it was great for conversations but it makes the space look really small and once I took the Christmas tree down that entire corner of the place felt empty. So I’m on furniture arrangement #3 now and I’m sure there will be others.
My desk is definitely one of my favorite pieces. It’s a rescue and still needs to be re-finished but I think one day it’ll be really beautiful.
I do not love having all those plants in the house but they can’t live outside right now so I’m stuck with them. The hanging light is actually a grow lamp for them because I don’t get enough light during the day for my desert plants. I just…yeah. I guess that’s a thing that’s happening in my life.
I have a cute little balcony so I got to put up Christmas lights outside this year. That big star was a Home Goods find!
Of course I have to show you my makeup vanity. I love it, no matter how impractical it is. I’m working on a new plan for makeup storage but for now this thing is still wonderful. If you’re wondering about that empty basket on top of the dog crate it’s where all those throw pillows on my bed go at night.
And finally, the bathroom is my least favorite part of this place. It has NO storage space which drives me crazy. But it does the job so I can’t really complain.
If you want to see how it all fits together, I made a video so you can have a little “walkthrough” of the place.
A) LOVE LOVE LOVE the color of your kitchen walls. I painted two of my bedroom walls an aqua when I first moved in but I love the richness of your kitchen color. Love.
B)Where did you get that long black sideways bookcase? I love that too and could use something like that.
C)I LOVE your little vanity it’s so cute. I wanted to get something similar at IKEA but when I moved to TN there is no IKEA here (closest is in ATL 4 hours away). And honestly I’m in such a rush in the mornings I’d probably never sit down and do my makeup. I pretty much have a routine with my Urban Decay foundation, brows and Naked 2 Palette that takes 10 min, mascara (3 kinds) takes a whole five minutes lol. My makeup artist friend gave me a LORAC set for Christmas have you tried their stuff? Their cobra mascara is AMAZING. No joke.
Great place, very cute!
Alas, my bookcase is from IKEA as well 🙁 I’ve heard they’re not making the multi-sized opening one anymore, but that may just be a rumor. Mascara does take an inordinately long amount of time, doesn’t it?? I don’t own anything by LORAC but their primer, but I gifted a palette to my bff last year. I agree, they make great stuff. I’ll put that mascara on my “must-try” list for sure!
I wanted, no needed the shelf you used for your vanity, since I have no room for anything but ikea isnt caring it any more, I’m sad
Oh no!!! That’s definitely sad news. I’m sorry to hear that!
