If we were having coffee today, I would want to talk about my new highlighter palette. It’s beautiful. (not an affiliate link). Granted, I have absolutely no need for another makeup palette but I couldn’t resist when I saw this one. The colors are gorgeous and the shimmer is vibrant enough you don’t need to use very much. I’m honestly wondering if this palette will outlast the highlighting trend?
If we were having coffee today, I would tell you my church’s morning devotionals are giving. me. life. For the 40 days leading up to Easter, we’re doing something called 7@7. It’s a live, 7 minute devotional at 7am and yes, they’re live on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram all at once. It’s been an amazing way to wake up and set the tone for my day. We’re doing a series called 7 Mile Miracle that looks at the last 7 statements Jesus made before he died so each week has a different theme, for example, we’ve already looked at Forgiveness and Salvation and this week’s theme is Relationship. Definitely check it out if you need a little morning pick me up. I know 7am is early, but if you follow Elevation church on YouTube the videos are saved so you can catch up at a time that works for you.
If we were having coffee today, I wouldn’t know if I should order a hot drink or a cold one. We’re having winter again here after a few weeks of really nice, almost hot, spring weather. I don’t hate it, honestly. I felt like our winter was too mild this year so it was nice to have a little snow day, even if the snow was gone by noon.
If we were having coffee today, I would tell you I have a reading problem. Okay it’s not a problem, I’ve just been reading a lot more this year than I have in…years. Does everything in life go in cycles? I’m starting to think that’s the secret.
If we were having coffee today, I would admit I’m nervous. I have some good news, but I’m afraid to say anything because I’m afraid it won’t work out. One thing I miss about being younger is that I didn’t worry anywhere near as much about things as I do now. So, I’m sorry to vagueblog, but for now just please be praying for me as I go through this transition. I’m not engaged/pregnant/under contract on a house/moving or making an announcement like I would about any of those events, so don’t get too excited. I’m sure I’ll relax and spill the beans soon but if I don’t, watch this space in (late) June.
If we were having coffee today, I would want to know what you miss about being younger. Like I said, I miss the time when I didn’t worry about backup plans. I also miss having a lot of free time to hang out and do nothing, like marathon TV shows all day for a few days. How about you?
If we were having coffee today, I would love to hear what you’re most looking forward to right now. Are you excited for summer? Any fun trips coming up? New books you’re waiting to read? Tell me all about it so I can look forward to it too!
I’m linking up with Erin for this coffee date and would love if you joined in. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to share in the comments. What would you say if we were having coffee today?
love this, Kate!
Kate! So glad you joined us this month. I don’t know whether to drink hot or cold coffee either. We’ve been in the high 70s pretty consistently until this weekend. A cold front has come through and now we’re all freezing, and I am NOT happy about it. I am so ready for the warmer days of spring!
As for what I miss about being younger, I miss just living without any expectations or plans. There’s no pressure to accomplish this goal or reach that milestone on anyone else’s schedule, and there was so much less comparison.
Can’t wait to hear your happy news! 🙂
Wow, these are some great points, Erin! I agree that there was less pressure to accomplish and compete when we were younger, but I do remember feeling like I had to make big decisions (like picking a major in college somehow determined my whole future, haha) and have all the answers. I think I was having one of those “grass is always greener” moments 🙂
I love the sound of that devotional series, I think I’ll have to look it up. Any thing to go deeper in reflecting on who Jesus is, that’s exactly what I’m needing at the moment.
What I miss about being younger is not having to worry about financial provision, I didn’t even have to think about having enough money for the basics of life, because my parents would provide that for me. I also miss being able to see my friends every day at school or uni – it’s so difficult to meet up with friends now that we’re all busy with work, babies or both. But, when I look at where I am now, I’m married to a man I love, I’m gradually finding a sense of maturity, and I don’t think I’d trade that.
Oooh, I hear you on the maturity thing. I think I’m a better, more pleasant person to be around now that I’m more mature (I hope!). I definitely wouldn’t trade what I have now to go back in time or anything, but it’s sometimes nice to think about having more free time.
Can I tell you something terribly hilarious.
I saw the words highlighter palette and was like score….. until I realized it was makeup. I geek out over office supplies. And rarely wear makeup. Pretty sure I have zero idea what a makeup highlighter does.
Prayers and happy dance for you (for June)
Ahh, I love this! A good set of highlighter markers would be equally exciting too though. I have a love of office supplies as well but yes, this time I was excited about my makeup 🙂 It’s just a shimmery powder, similar to blush, that you use to “highlight” certain parts of your face like your cheekbones. Thank you so much for your prayers!
Hi Kate! Praying for you with the good news that everything will work out well. I also miss the carefree living that came with being younger. I can’t wait for vacation either. My family and I are driving down to Florida (from New Jersey) next month and I’m so excited. Do you have any plans soon? OH and also, this may sound silly, but I was wondering how you learned how to do makeup. I’ve always been just a mascara kind of girl, but I’ve really been interested in learning more but am not sure where to start? Have any tips for me? Great to be having coffee with you. 🙂
Hey Ashley! That sounds like a really fun trip!! I don’t have any big plans in the near future but I am taking a cruise in October for my cousin’s wedding that I’m very excited about. As far as makeup, I learned a lot on YouTube and would recommend checking out some beauty YouTubers, but some of them have pretty foul mouths. I love NikkieTutorials because she gives great advice and keeps the swearing to a minimum. Thank you for the prayers!!
Oh my goodness, that palette IS gorgeous! I love it! Also, I will be praying for you! And the weather is crazy here, too. It’s 75 for the high today…two days ago it was snowing. But that’s Kansas for ya!
